System Requirements

The CmapServer v6 and above run under Java 7 (Java is included as part of the installation), and therefore a requirement is the capability to run Java 7.

Windows:

  • Windows 8 (Desktop), Windows 7, Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012 (64-bit)
  • 1.0 GB or RAM or higher recommended
  • Disk space requirements: 200 MB of available hard disk space.

OS X:

  • Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.7.3 (Lion) or later.
  • 1.0 GB or RAM or higher recommended
  • Disk space requirements: 200 MB of available hard disk space.

Linux:

  • Oracle Linux 5.5+, Oracle Linux 6.x (32-bit), 6.x (64-bit)*, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5+, 6.x (32-bit), 6.x (64-bit)*, Ubuntu Linux 10.04 and above, Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2, 11.x
  • * only 64-bit Java VM is certified by Oracle

The basic IHMC CmapServer software is free for educational institutions and US Federal Government Agencies, and at this time the software is being offered free as a beta test version to other users, including commercial users.

Most users don’t need to run their own CmapServer — an account on the Cmap Cloud will meet their needs. Please check this page to make sure you need to download and run your own CmapServer.
